The choice of the tools

Before beginning to paint exterior facades, it is well to make sure to have the right tools for the job, so you can operate in the simpler way. Paint-brushes and flat brush with bristle of the same length, allow to apply the product with wide brush marks and, therefore, fastly. The spreaders allow to apply the paint on smooth or rough surfaces, in a uniform way. Beyond these classics manual tools it is possible to choose: traditional airbrush, airless and vaporizators with multiple nozzles, that offer advantages in terms of times and costs.

How to prepare walls

The external supports are exposed, with great intensity, to the atmospheric agents and pollution: these create numerous phenomena (flacking, exfoliation, cracks) that determine the deterioration of the surfaces. For this reason, the preparation of the wall to paint is fundamental so the covering, that will be apply, adhere perfectly to the support, guaranteeing cover and resistance in the time.

If the external surface has flacking or exfoliations, caused by solar light exposition, humidity or plastering defects, is necessary to remove dust with brush and clean the surface with a water jet. Once that the support is perfectly cleaned up, you can start to prepare for primer.

If the surface has cracks or holes, caused by ice, moulds or mortar deteriorations, it will be necessary to remove the plastering, close the cracks, applying stucco with a spatula and rub down the surface in order to make it uniform. After you can apply the sealer.

Solutions

The characteristics request to a cycle in order to obtaine a good result to protect and decorate exterior facades, are ability to be impermeable to the water that come from the outside and transpiration that allow to inside vapor to exit. For the technical acceptability of these two fundamental parameters exist different solutions:

  • Sylicat Covering
  • Plastic Covering

  • Paint based on syntethic resins

  • Paint based on quartz flour

  • Solvent paints
